My
research focuses on genes, which
interact with male sex
determining gene Sry, its target
Sox9 and others to coordinate
Sertoli and Leydig cell
differentiation in the fetal
testis. Any abnormality in this
critical development process may
lead to infretility or serious
reproductive diseases in male
humans. Exposure of mother to
environmental stressors may
affect development of fetal
organs, which may lead to
serious diseases in that individual at
adulthood, which is also called "Fetal origin of adult disease". Moreover, some adult diseases of fetal origin are likely transmit to subsequent generation through germ line transmission. I am striving for finding some molecular biomarkers that detect abnormalities in fetal development that turns out to be disease at the adulthood.
